More people using Avantidrome to work off their post-lockdown woes

An international-class sports centre has become a post-lockdown haven for people looking for normality.

The Avantidrome in Waikato cost $34 million to construct and was opened by Prince William and Kate Middleton in Cambridge in 2014.

A new valuation put its worth at $53m and its debt reduced to $1.8m, nearly reaching its goal of becoming debt-free by 2020.

The high-profile cycling track attracted public scrutiny during its conception because it was granted public money, $1 million from the Waipā District Council and $6 million from the Waikato Regional Council towards construction.
