Making the most of the surrounding landscapes, the town is becoming increasingly known for its wedding and event venues and is home to Windy Ridge, Vilagrad wines and the newest, and most unique venue - The Tree Church.

Lifestyle

With Mount Pirongia standing proudly in the backdrop and vast views of some of Waikato's richest farmland, the town is a haven for those looking for a relaxed rural lifestyle minutes from the city of Hamilton or Te Awamutu.

Originally the town was a military post during the Waikato Wars and was settled by Bohemian militiamen. The redoubt that you can still see there today was built in April 1864.
