You are planning on selling food

Anyone setting up a new food business or changing ownership of an existing business will need to register under the Food Act 2014 before they start selling food.

There's a whole heap of information on this on the the Ministry of Primary Industries website or you can make an appointment with one of our Environmental Health Officers who can tell you all you need to know. There's also a heap of Waipa specific information here – don’t worry, the link will open in a new window so you can come back to it later.

Why so many rules? These rules and guidelines are a necessity to make sure any food being sold is safe to eat and of absolutely no risk to the health of our communities. The last thing you want people to remember about your business is their dodgy tummy!
